Team NiSCA has announced that its brand will officially be sunsetted at the end of July 2026. As a result, Team NiSCA ID card printers are being discontinued, and new printers will no longer be produced under the Team NiSCA brand.
For many years, Team NiSCA manufactured durable direct-to-card and retransfer printers, including the PR-C101, PR-C151 and PR-C201. These printers have been used by organizations around the world to produce employee badges, membership cards, access-control credentials and other identification cards.
Although the Team NiSCA printer line is ending, support for existing printers is not disappearing immediately. Team NiSCA has indicated that drivers, firmware, manuals, technical documentation and product-support resources will remain available for existing customers.
Aptika will continue to sell genuine Team NiSCA ribbons and available consumables for existing printers.
At this time, Team NiSCA has not publicly announced a final availability date for ribbons, retransfer films, laminates, replacement parts or other supplies. Their availability may therefore vary by printer model and product.
Aptika will continue supplying Team NiSCA ribbons and consumables for as long as they remain available from the manufacturer and distribution channels.
Organizations that rely on a Team NiSCA printer should review their expected card-production requirements and avoid waiting until a printer failure or consumable shortage forces an urgent replacement.
Team NiSCA is directing customers toward the Swiftpro printer line for new card-printing solutions. However, the remaining Kanematsu portfolio appears to be considerably smaller than the former Team NiSCA product range.
Team NiSCA previously offered both direct-to-card and retransfer printers. The current Swiftpro offering appears to focus primarily on retransfer printing, meaning that Kanematsu no longer seems to offer a direct replacement for every Team NiSCA model and application.
For customers replacing a direct-to-card Team NiSCA printer, Aptika therefore recommends considering current printer platforms from established manufacturers such as Evolis.
For customers using a Team NiSCA PR-C101 or PR-C151 direct-to-card printer, Aptika recommends the Evolis Primacy 2.
Primacy 2 is a modern, high-performance direct-to-card printer designed for medium- and high-volume card production. Depending on its configuration, it supports:
Primacy 2 offers print speeds of up to 280 cards per hour and provides an excellent upgrade path for organizations currently operating a PR-C101 or PR-C151.
For customers using a Team NiSCA PR-C201 retransfer printer, Aptika recommends the Evolis Agilia.
Like the PR-C201, Agilia uses retransfer technology to print the image onto a transparent film before transferring it to the card. This process produces excellent image quality and allows printing beyond the edges of the card.
Agilia offers:
Agilia is an excellent replacement for organizations that require high-resolution photographs, small text, detailed graphics, smart-card encoding or professional full-bleed card production.
Customers using a PR-L151 or L-201 laminator should review their security and durability requirements before selecting a replacement system.
Depending on the application, Aptika may recommend an Evolis Primacy 2 or Evolis Agilia combined with the Evolis Card Lamination Module.
A lamination system may be appropriate when cards require:
Not necessarily. An operational Team NiSCA printer may continue to provide years of service, particularly when it is properly maintained and the required consumables remain available.
However, customers should consider planning a replacement when:
Planning the transition in advance makes it possible to test the replacement printer, validate card designs and maintain an adequate supply of cards without interrupting operations.
Aptika will continue supporting customers who use Team NiSCA printers and supplying compatible ribbons and consumables while they remain available.
We can also help evaluate your current printer configuration and recommend an appropriate Evolis or other brand replacement.
